Born this Way
I have this theory. Humans are born without hatred in their hearts. I know because as a child racism, homophobia, and ignorance never occurred to me. And when I learned about them as I grew up, these things never made any sense.
I grew up in Los Angeles, and my elementary school had every race known to God’s green earth well-represented. Not that I knew this then. My best friends were Hispanic, Asian, Black, and White, but they were all the same to me. Only when I thought back to that time years later did I even realize that there had even been different races in my classes.

By the time Sirius's motorbike rolled into Godric's Hollow, it was early morning, and a lanky teenage boy with wire-framed glasses and incredibly messy black hair was waiting for him under the shade of a couple of willow trees.
Sirius cut the engine, and as the loud back fell silent, the other boy called out to Sirius.
"Padfoot! Did you set another heirloom on fire? Or are you on the run from the Ministry again?"
Sirius chuckled and shook his head. "Is that any way to greet the Master of Mischief, Prongs?" he demanded of his best friend, whose real nam
Sirius Nigellus Black hated family parties. He disliked wearing his best robes, which always made him feel like a muzzled dog. He loathed travelling with his Mother, brother, and Father to one of their snobby, pureblood cousins' houses, when he could have been spending the warm summer nights sneaking into that muggle club that just opened a few blocks from their London house. But above all, Sirius despised spending time with his family.
Every member of the Black family had been a witch or wizard for millennia, long before Merlin had used his paltry magic tricks to anoint a young muggle boy ruler of all the British dominions. Or so S

Prongs Triumphant Part 3
Once inside his dormitory, James noticed that nearly all the light had faded from the sky; he was running out of time. Moving quickly, he pulled out a large piece of folded parchment from where it was kept in a hidden compartment inside his trunk. James pulled out his wand, spread the scroll out on his bed, and tapped the parchment with his wand and said, in a self-assured voice, "I solemnly swear that I am up to no good."
The parchment filled with miniscule lines of ink, which slowly bled together, forming the floor plan of Hogwarts. Tiny labeled dots, each representing a person currently in the school, moved about the map. Ove

They flew James's broomstick, a Thunderbird 500, in the direction of the North tower. Lily clutched his chest so as not to fall off, as the wind ran its fingers across their cheeks and through their hair. Lily was too awestruck by the view to say much during the flight. James was likewise silent, mesmerized by the beauty around him, although he hardly paid attention to the landscape.
When they reached the North Tower, where their Astronomy classes were held, James leapt off the Thunderbird. But before he could even offer his arm to Lily, she had swung her legs over the side of the broom and hopped down to the ground. James tried not to sta

James Potter was not in the habit of spying on other people. As Team Captain for the Gryffindor Quidditch Team, one of the most promising students at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and, by the universal acknowledgment of his female classmates, very good-looking, he was usually the one people peered at from around the corners of hallways.
But today, James could not help eavesdropping. Today, Lily Evans, the only girl James had never been able to forget, was fighting with her best friend, Severus Snape. James had despised Snape from the moment they met, in part because the hook-nosed teen was a member of Slytherin, Gryffindor's o

In the days following their discovery, James, Sirius, and Peter tried to act as if they did not know Remus's secret. When Remus had to inevitably visit the Hospital Wing, to eat his daily ration of raw meat, they pretended that they noticed nothing unusual. They were careful to never mouth a word alluding to the truth about their friend, except in the privacy of their dormitory. They also continued to treat Remus exactly as they had before. But one must remember that our heroes are only twelve years old, and secrets leak out o

Sir Francis Drake: Teenager
Part 1: The Angel and the Storm
The titanic waves crashed against the ship relentlessly. Sir Francis Drake, Master of the Seas, strode across the deck, shouting instructions to his sailors. He had been in thousands of storms before this wretched night, this one would be no different, he told himself.
A boy of no more than ten summers, who was in charge of the swabbing the deck, cried out in fear as another great swell sent the ship reeling faster than a losing pugilist. Sir Francis grabbed the boy by the collar and said, "Get down below, Master Thompson, this sea is no place for a child." As the lad went scam
